A Tree Grows in Brooklin Pond
Shimmering moonlight, full, round,
embraces a blosoming tree,
etches of light for petals,
a liquid self image, no shadow,
A wide circle of friends
in the surrounding grove,
fellow petal bearers all,
equally in bloom.
But this tree occupies the centre,
of an almost regular elipse,
commanding the focus,
absorbing the moonlight.
Solitary,
duplicated, only in reflection.
